You know when you get that box of chocolates and you are like 'yes baby' and you debate "which one do I eat?". You have to weigh carefully the color, size, shape (you don't want to pick wrong one you know) and then you bite in only to find some orange colored filling that really should never, I repeat NEVER, be surrounded by chocolate or anything for that matter. So with a bite now out you place it back in the chocolate box--who knows someone might enjoy it--and go for a second only to find you got some other gross wanna-be chocolate. I hate that! Hopefully, I am not the only one who has experienced this. It's probably because we always go for cheap.
A couple of months ago I was feeling, uh, deprived. I needed a vacation/excitement in my life. I got to thinking about cheese. Weird I know. I got to thinking how really I am only a Colby/jack kind of girl. How I have only tasted a few cheeses out there. I was talking to Jared about it and we decided we'd try a new cheese a month. Sad, really how I am choosing to spice up my life. Cheese. *sigh* oh well. I won't bore you with the details of our cheese experiments but it has been kind of fun.
So back around to chocolates. On our third cheese I finally decided I did this with the wrong food. We should have done this with chocolates! That would have been very exciting. Especially for this 'snicker' girl.
Well, Jared (bless his little heart) remembered me saying this and for mother's day I got a box (A BIG BOX) of See's chocolates. He said that was the best he could do because when he went online to look for real, wonderful chocolate he couldn't stomach paying $100 for a small box. (Good Boy) Which is fine with me because when I open that box and decide which one to eat there is absolutely no fear of biting into anything orange or nasty tasting. It may not be some exotic chocolate but when your used to M&M's and Kisses it's pretty dang exciting!

See now that's why I poke the chocolate until it oozes so I don't have to taste it. Whatever works. I'm impressed with how well your husband listens to you!
ReplyDeleteAlso you need to post recipes for all your bread making, it looks so good.
Who came up with chocolates filled with random things. Everyone I know likes the caramel ones or the turtles. Why aren't there more of those and less of the others. I think it is a conspiracy so that we have to by a whole lot of chocolates to eat a few that we actually like. Hope you enjoy your chocolates!
ReplyDeleteSadly, after working for dr kuhl for so long, I know all See's candy by sight. (those drug reps just don't know when to stop) See's are my favorite, they're awesome, they just make you gain 10 pounds. I don't know about you, but I just can't stop once I start. Kendall decided it's better to just not get them for me anymore.
ReplyDeleteI think the cheese thing is a great idea! I love cheese, all kinds, and I've even been able to get kendall to love most of them.
With you on the chocolates. Who doesn't throw those boxes away with 50% of the chocolates half eaten. Oh well, it's fun to try them all and then you don't feel guilty consuming the entire box.
ReplyDeleteYour cheese idea...love it. I'm a cheese girl. I've traveled a bunch in my past life of no children and I got many many chances to eat cheeses from all over the world. There are very few that I don't like. Goat cheese has to be the worst. Don't even go there. Puking will follow. Sadly "good" cheeses make cheddar seem blah and boring. I'll be interested in seeing how the taste testing goes.
Good job Jared for remembering what you say! As for me, I love the caramel filled chocolates as well as the maple, cherry, and...Orange!! :) Maybe they should try chocolate covered cheese.
ReplyDeleteMy mouth is watering reading this post. Delicious
ReplyDeleteGood idea about the cheese. I have been feeling the same way but I think I really need a vacation! I wish they made boxes full of different shaped carmel chocolates.
ReplyDeletesounds like it's time for a neighborhood cruise!! I want to know how the cheese things goes - and amen to the chocolate thing!!
