McKenna will totally kill me when she finds out that this is on my blog. But this was a big step for her and me.
She has been bugging me for about a year asking if she could "please, please, please" shave her legs. She has some seriously hairy legs! Whoa girl! It was kind of a joke...which she didn't really appreciate but could laugh at. I kept thinking she is way to young! In my mind I think I was about 12 (the whole, young women's, little bit of make up, shaving your legs thing).
Well, this moring I relented.
Wish Granted!
She has now joined the ranks of women who will be shaving their legs for the rest of their lives (groan)
I also told her you won't be able to stop touching your legs after that first shave, they will feel so soft! At the time she rolled her eyes at me. This morning she whispered in my ear "Mom your right I can't stop touching them."
So I am curious for all you fellow "Crap it's time to shave again! Club" how old were you?
PS.
McKenna would not submit to me taking pictures!

I feel her pain!!! I have seriously hairy legs (worse than kendall) and my dad would NOT let me shave them. He finally relented when I was almost 12 because I got made fun of so much as school and started coming home crying. I'm glad you didn't let it get to that point with her. I think I was the last girl in my school to start shaving. It was so embarrasing.
ReplyDeleteI can't really remember when I started shaving my legs but I must have been younger because my mom was more of the -if you're ready to shave your legs every day for the rest of your life then go ahead- kind of mom. I am with you two, it sure is nice to have soft, smooth legs rather than hairy. Good luck McKenna!
ReplyDeleteI think I was 10 or 11, my friend shaved them with an electric razor, good times. . . I'm glad you let her, there's enough stuff to feel self conscious about for a young lady. It's strange though, she was just seven a couple of weeks ago, wasn't she?
ReplyDeleteI believe I was in 6th grade when I started shaving my legs. My Mom held out as long as she could before she gave in to my begging. I'm trying to prepare myself for when Alivia starts wanting to shave, wear make-up, etc., but facing the fact that our girls are growing up is sooo hard!!
ReplyDeleteI was 12. Then I hated it so much I only shaved when it got so bad people would look weird. I played sports so I would say it was a good luck thing. People totally bought it.
ReplyDeleteFunny thing is I just shaved Camryn's she's 7. They were horribly disgusting. I told her when she is 12 she can shave them again. It's coming in a little thinner. NICE
I can't remember how old I was. I just remember some of my friends were doing it, so I got one of my Dad's disposable razors and went to town. I never even asked my Mom. I don't think she ever even knew. It seems kind of funny now.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's a pain to do it but the soft, smooth feeling is so worth it. Welcome to the club McKenna!
