Getting Older....but "Too Old"?

Aaaahhh those 'first day of school' pics. They both look a little annoyed, or maybe it's "ok Mom, let's get on with this already." You'll notice that there is no picture of Gunnar. Dang kid. A junior in High School and he decides that he's 'too old' for the first day of school pictures. It breaks my heart when you reach those moments. Thankfully, we haven't reached the 'too old to give my mom a hug before I go to bed' moment. Or the 'too old to actually say the words I love you' moment I'm hanging on to those for dear life.
(Even if I do know that at some point they will return)
Kennedy's in 5th grade but I'm pretty sure the drama we've been going through so far is more like High School. I hope I survive the High School years with these girls.
McKenna is in the pivotal 8th grade year....who knew having a phone would change a child so much? We're the meanies....and won't give them a phone till they are 14. (I sure do admire the parents who hold out even longer.) I like to blame the phone for this huge shift in personalities..but I am sure it is just the attack of teenage hormones and the
whole---your parents just don't get it--bug.

Insert pic of my handsome--almost 17 yr old.

Gunnar's a junior and really a great kid. Especially, when I reflect all the trouble my husband was into at his age. So I try not to freak out too much at the stuff he does or at least the stuff I know about. He drives me a little crazy--and still thinks homework is optional. I'd do anything to get him on a "date". I think he is resiting because he knows I'd love it.
The "older 3" (as we refer to them now that we've added such craziness to our house) are getting older and it makes me a little sad...where have all the years gone? Everything we do or say is followed by a "you can't blog this" or "don't put that on face book" Seriously! What kind of mother do you think I am? Yeah ok I probably would...
